Nice colours (albeit very little, but I think that adds to this shot) in the image. There are some nice reflections in the water, which work well and I like the portrait orientation, rather than a landscape here. You have done a nice job on the exposure. Nice image.

A nice entry for the contest. The swan has great shape and pose. The framing on the left is very well done.

As this is a contest, for what it is worth, I want this one to do well. Here are my thoughts:

The horizon bisects the frame. Cropping from the top or bottom may make the image more eye catching thus emphasizing the swan more. Personally I like the drama of the reflection on the water. For me I would crop from the top down keeping and emphasizing the nice dramatic reflection in the water.

Just my take on your well seen image.

Best of the best in the contest ~ Steve

it is a nice peaceful capture. the angle of the shot of this swan in the lake with cloudy day is great. the capture of the light is great. the clarity is great. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

It's not always that perfect focus and and content unite like this. This poster worthy photo would be a good add for Apple i phone 13, lol... (I don't think my Google megapixel could do that.). I love the whites with glass and well reflected swan in this lighting. My admiration!

Daphne, wow, Thank you so much for the wonderful rating. and the six stars, that is so generous. Most of all I am so happy you like it. To get down to the bank where I took the shot, I had to jump down about three feet. So with Iphone in hand, I jumped down and fell over, but I didn't drop the phone. It was close. and I looked up and the sky turned that light yellow color, the swan swam out of the shadow and I took the shot, about five to be exact. Again thank you. Ray Gordon.

very lovely seen. I like how colors matched and reflection on the water too. Swan is just beautiful and his loneliness appropriate for this quiet atmosphere

this is a moment to capture for sure. I love the reflection going on thru out this picture , the yellows the blues and those gorgeous clouds and the swan. Thanks for the education. I had no idea the names of female and males. im not sure which would be which.

So peaceful! I will be honest and say I am glad is a swan and not a duck :) Beautiful reflection in the water, lots of space which isn't bad . I think is nice and well framed. The weather didn't help much, right ?

Thank you for the review. There was no wind, there was ice in the water and the temperature was 45F, not bad at all. Ray G.

Ray,
A very beautiful & peaceful picture of the Mute Swan gliding on the fishing pond
I think it's the Cob judging by the knob on the top of his beak. The reflections of the sun glowing through the clouds & the clouds themselves including the Swan on the pond's glistening surface is an added bonus. The pond framed by the trees growing along it's shore line. Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

A very lovely image, like the solitary swan swimming on the mirror surface of the pond. The reflections are perfect, and the yellow tone near the horizon draws the eye into this image. It's a very lovely, tranquil scene. Best wishes to you in this contest!

This capture is fascinating. It looks like a fairy tale. Your photo has impressive depth and is excellent focused and exposed. I enjoy the realism of color and light and the refinement of detail. The Swan catches the eyes and the interest of the viewers. The bird is perfect placed within the frame. The photo is expertly composed. The composition is balanced.
