Beautiful Magnolia flower; almost looks like a candle or lamp in reddish-wine color and the yellow in the center. The leaves and background are fine too. The angle of the flower is especially noticable. Best wishes in the contest.

a great entry Christine to the "Unexpected Angle Photography" with this excellent close up of a white magnolia flower; I like the capture from the flower level and the outstanding capture of the white flower petals;

Your close-up capture is exquisite. Your photo is perfect focused and exposed and has good depth. I enjoy the sharpness of detail and the realism of light and color. The photo is excellent composed. The panorama framing emphasizes the blossom remarkably. The composition is balanced.

At first sight, I mistook the flower for egg shells:) This definitely is a different point of view. The light and shadows, colours and, composition have worked out well. Good luck!

Chris,
A beautiful picture of the White Magnolia grandiflora Galissoniere taken from the side with the red stemmed stamens tipped with golden pollen framed by waxy white petals & it's evergreen leaves. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Chris, I see you have chose to shoot this as it grows, I think that was a wise decision. Personally I think thats the best way as it grows. You have used good DOF which ascents the blossom. Very nicely done and in the best of luck in the contest. Ray

i grew up with a 25 ft tall magnolia in my back yard. as a kid i used to climb up in it all the time. being in Mississippi magnolias are very plenty..some spring the smell would be think in the air. i kinda got use to it to where i just didnt notice till someone said something..lol. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of this open magnolia is great. the capture of the light is great. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. you know if you look at one of my cartoons titled "she is a lady" from my Funnie Flowers that is my cartoon version of a magnolia..that skit has been in several of my music videos. its old cartoon so you would have to do a FAR title search to find it and no you dont have to review it either..just showing you one of those characters in the cartoons series..wink. good eye and great job overall.
