This buck is lovely. He seems to have a very kind character; He looks rather surprised that you take his photo. Your photo is excellent focused and exposed and has good depth. I enjoy the realism of color and light and the refinement of detail. The background shows the environment nicely but is not distracting. The portrait is well composed and framed. The composition is balanced.

You are probably right. This is my third year photographing him, and he has gotten more used to me, though he is still quite skittish on occasion.

Skilled mixed photography of a really fine scene. The colors on the body of oranges/browns/tans are lovely, the neck included. This is a very handsome buck, endearing face. The greens behind and to the left side are also nice.

That creature has some Heavy looking antlers, doesn't he?
( They're like the rack I'd expect to see on a prehistoric Sivatherium or something!
That's a great looking portrait photograph of him,my friend! : )

A beautiful buck and a great shot of him. I like the eye contact that shows more curiousity than fear. Very nice details and great colors.

Beautiful image of the Buck with his new antlers - I actually did not realize they grow new ones each year. The colors are very realistic and the focus on the eyes of buck sharp. Beautiful full frontal composition.

Thank you! yes, they drop them in late winter or early spring, then regrow a new, usually bigger rack.

A very good looking nature image posted here! Speaking as a ignorant Brit, how many times in a year do they shed antlers? Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely taken!

Thanks! They shed their antlers only once, usually late winter or early spring, and then start growing a new rack. The antlers are done growing by September.

Beautiful clarity in this image you have posted here. I love the greens in the background. The young deer seems so peaceful. I can see all the details in his coat and on his antlers, he looks so fluffy. All the best in the contest. Thanks for sharing
