What a spectacular nature shot! The sky and clouds are an awesome background. The dark pelican is different to the white ones we have here in Victoria, Australia. It makes for a dramatic image. Your capture is clear and focussed and wonderfully composed. All the best in the contest!

Wow Lori! This is one of the very best pelican images I have seen on here ! The pelican has always fascinated me.
It is perfectly placed within the frame . Spot on focus, this image is sharp and clear, lighting is well managed. Well defined detail over feathers , face and bill, beautiful clear eye! The gulls in flight on that dramatic sky couldn't be a more perfect background. I lve those clouds!

This is magical scene. The DOF is perfect, the focus and low lighting tells the time of day so well and your POV slightly lower than the pelican allows teh flock of birds and the wispy sky to fill the background framing the star so well. Good luck in the contest.
