That part of a sword ( or a mace,or a Battle Axe ) is actually called a 'Grip' but that's still a nicely-presented and interesting photograph,my friend!

I would say this is the perfect photo for the contest. My grandson does forging and metal work. He would have loved to have been at this event. Lighting and focus is spot on. The tight crop gives us a great look at the detail on the handles. Good luck in the contest.
