Despite your unusual childhood, your art is beautiful. Congrats on your third place win. I found this piece to be quite serene and beautiful. You have a great talent and I'm sure once you get your book finishes, it will an amazing read. I look forward to the day you publish.

Thank you! Yes writing about a history that is so unusual has its challenges!

This is such a beautiful piece in contrast to your back story. When I first saw it, it made me feel warm and relaxed. After reading how it got to be, it certainly changed the entire perspective. But a beautiful piece nonetheless

Wow, what beautiful digital artwork and the dramatic story that you described so well.
Despite of all the challenges, you developed an incredible talent of painting. The scene is as powerful as the message you created with hopefull and happy ending.
Awesome!

Thank you so much for your very kind review! Yes the views were incomparable, especially from the high mountains in the center of the island!

You for sure have an interesting background, and you have also created a lovely picture for this contest. It is almost a romantic scene even if I know I am looking at two children sitting on their horses.

The painting is done paying such a good attention to details, and the color palette is lovely.

When it comes to the composition, I would personally have cropped more at the bottom, but I fully appreciate that this is a matter of taste. With the horses off to the left balanced by the boat on the right, it is a fine balance in the composition.

I think this is a truly lovely and well done digital painting, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Thank you so much for your kind review! Yes I should have mentioned that the space at the bottom is to allow for text on the title page. Interestingly, I did eventually marry the young boy's older brother! A long drawn out drama. The older brother was dropped off on the island by mistake by a fishing boat months later. This was a development my parents were very upset about! Nothing romantic actually took place between myself and the older brother though for a couple of years, which was a tough "romance" since my parents didn't even permit us to talk to one another (officially). We were ordered to arrange camping trips together nonetheless, so it quite an unusual situation with no comparable social situation that I know of, though perhaps in some cult I haven't yet heard of yet, I just don't know!...

What a story, and now I understand the open spece at the bottom. It makes sence. You are more than welcome for the review Daphne.

Beautifully created! I like this fantastic artwork that shows us this rural scene so nicely. The colors of the sunset are well done and the depth is pleasing. Realistic yet somewhat edgy and perfectly unique. Best wishes for the contest!

Such a fine digital painting. The sky with the blues, yellows, and pinks and the low blue mountains against is gorgeous and realistic, as is the little ship, water and flowering tree. The middle ground with the boy and girl along with the horses are endearing, but not as realistic, however, very well done in a different style. Fine work indeed! So sorry about the events with your Veteran parents and your young life. It is sad but would make for a great story and even share the plight of soldiers sometimes in, after war. I look forward to reading more when you are able to continue. I know how you feel. I almost became ill while writing the true story of my grandparents who saved so many and lost two daughters in one night with the measles. It is a heart-rending novel in many ways but also inspiring and touching. Thanks for sharing your story and depicting so well the theme in your painting.

Thank you for the kind, in depth review! May I be so inquisitive as to ask if you have published your novel yet? And if you have, whether you self-published it or managed to find an agent? I have done both in my time regarding my fiction, and the first New York agent was recommended in Jeff Herman's guide to Publisher's and agents, but then she went manic, and was sought by the CIA (not FBI) for international mail fraud and my book and all the paperwork involved got frozen by the courts back in 1998 or so, and still it is all legally frozen this many years later, so I gave up and rewrote and renamed the story and had it republished by Xlibris which is a huge scam in my opinion, although it has a respectable front... so anyway, many rather disappointing and complicated stories to tell regarding publishing!... I also have tried to locate someone with the time and interest to be an objective reviewer of my non-fiction but the best people get derailed by their own demanding lives. If you might be interested I could start with sending you just the first chapter of my island era memoir to see if you found it something you actually wanted to read any more of once you experienced the flavor of it. My parents did not call themselves this, but I have come to call them "delusional occultists", so the book is a weird genre. If you were interested I would not be the least bit hurt if once you began reading it you said "this is not for me," lol... But I don't know, you might find it very interesting.... my email is daphneoberon@gmail.com should you be someone who would be interested in perhaps giving feedback on how my portrayal of this strange history strikes someone not already familiar with the story. I could just email you one or three chapters -- something like that... if you are interested let me know!
