Awesome close up capture of this Black Raven. The clarity is so good of his head and eye. Great lighting and the background allows the raven to 'pop'. Thanks for sharing Pat!

Very close up! Has his eye on you. Nice angle to give insightful composition. Very fine focus that is showing his colours and feather detail well and that glint of reflection in his eye completes this fine and interesting capture.

A good looking nature image posted here! Your fine and almost macro composition offers an enjoyable portrait view of that handsome bird. Textures and tones are good.
Sharpness and exposure are good. Nicely taken!

You have done a good job in not under-exposing the black in this image and the feather details can still be seen. I like the focus on the eye (as it should be) and the DOF used is pleasing. Composition of the bird to the right of the frame is nice and the catch light in the eye is a nice bonus. Thanks for sharing.

What an up closeness of this bird! It is very nicely captured, including its demeanor. It is almost like we can se into its thoughts. Fine blurring of the background. I was doing a little research on the differences in the raven and crow species, birds. Thanks for sharing.

Great looking shot!. Fine example of bird photography. Your close-up framing appears to be perfect and you have captured the alert look of the raven very well.

Sure, you got a great photo, he was frozen stiff at the North Pole. Ha Ha!
Super lighting and perfect focus. He is truly giving you the eye for invading his space. you have captured the rich coal; black feathers and his glistening eye. The crop is spot on and the balance of the shot fades into the background. This would be a super print mounted on metal.

Thanks so much Gary! Lol! North Pole is actually the name of a little town up north near Fairbanks , it?s complete with a Santa Clause house and the light poles are candy canes!

Now I can say I have seen a Raven close up. That is some camping trip you are on and your reputation as a naturalist followed you, the word was out. I love this close up, there has to be a story about this one. Thank you for sharing. Ray

Thank you so much Ray! I love the ravens! Their intelligence can be compared to a dolphin or a chimpanzee, they are protected and very important to the native Americans .

You are so welcome. Edgar Allen Poe, one of my favorites loved ravens too. Lost Lenore and never more. Ray

It is not easy to photograph black birds, but here you have done a great job Pat. I like the close and personal approach, and also how well you have captured the bird's shiny eye. The background is nicely softened, and the raven is standing out from it in an excellent way.

The photo is very sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in the feathers of the bird. The exposure is spot on.

The tight cropping has worked well and the raven has got such a fine placement within the frame. A truly lovely and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF.
