Hi Mary, Lighting and clarity are perfection in this shot! Love the depth you can see in the wings! Your Darter reminds me of a Cormorant out to dry its wings. It's a great shot! I might have placed the Darter a slight bit more to the right, but the shot is still wonderful! :o) Nancy

What a beautiful bird it is one that I have not seen before, so I appreciate this view.
I like it's pose up on the post overlooking the water. And the partially lifted wings.
The bird has a nice placement within the frame leaving plenty of room for it to look or move into.
Well focused, this image is clear, I also like the way the light is falling upon the plumage, exposure is correct, the colors and tones appear natural,
