So different to our Aussie magpie - nice capture to show the colors of the bird well and that very long tail. The dark head shows up better on enlarged image. Good focus on eye.

Such a handsome pose you have captured of this Pica pica Susan! He is regal among the tree branches and is shown off so nicely against the greenery. Excellent focus and composition. The framed border adds wonderful accent. Thanks for sharing and best wishes for the contest!

Artist friend Susan, you have captured another beauty, rather handsome here. The title is so appropriate. The bird in his blues, blacks, whites is so handsome; the crisp geens near him and farther back ones are so nice too. And, as usual, the frame adds to.

Very pretty photo of a magpie. You know I had never heard of a magpie until I watched a movie called Penguin Bloom. What a fantastic movie. If you haven't it, you really should.

I love the colours, the sharpness and how he is posing away from you but his head and eye turned to look at you.

Great capture of this beautiful bird.

Susan, this is a beautiful picture of a Magpie with shinning iridescent blue wings and a white breast. This is nicely presented and framed. Very nice. Ray

Our garden is full of magpies, and even if it is a lot of people not liking them, I love watching them. Especially when they do their best to irritate cats. LOL You have pictured this one so well, and it was posing for you in such a lovely way.

It is a sharp photo showing clear and well defined details both in the bird and the foreground with ivy. The white balance and exposure is very good.

The format and the frame you have added is working well, and the magpie is well placed in the picture. It is a lovely and well taken photo Susan, and with a very good DOF.

This Magpie is indeed especial handsome. I like the confident pose of the bird which allows the viewers a good observation of the body and the plumage. Your photo is excellent focused and exposed and has good depth. I appreciate the realism of color and light and the refinement of detail. The close-up photo is perfect composed and framed. The composition is balanced.
