The icicles on this tree just looks fantastic, but I also like that a bird is included in this frosty scene. It adds both interest and beauty. Personally I would have tried to smooth the background to get rid of some hot spots, but the branch, the ice and the bird are standing out well.
This is also a sharp photo showing clear and well defined details all over, and apart from the hot spots, the exposure is fine.
The photo is nicely cropped, and with the bird off to the left, it is a very good balance in the composition. I think this is a lovely and well taken photo, and I wish you luck with the contest.
