The posed scene is so well constructed. The lighting on the skull gives it a haunted feel. The vacant eyes are staring up at the sky. The lichen covering the old wood gives a feeling of aging of the scene. Great cropping and you get style points for the creativity.

Hi LeeAnne, What a cool place you found to place this deer skeleton head. Love the lichen on those branches. I think that framing really gives an intense look to your image. The focus and lighting here are fantastic! I know you set this up but if I came across it in the woods, I would take it as a warning I was not wanted there! Very cool and creative! :o) Nancy

This is indeed a great looking photo of one of your skulls, and I especially like the kind of fungi growing on the wood framing it. It offers just the bit of extra and lovely colors to all the brown. The skull is of course also standing out from the background in an excellent way.
The photo is pin sharp, and apart from all the fine textures brought out, it is clear and well defined details to be seen both in the skull and surroundings. The exposure is spot on.
The format is perfect, and I like that the skull is centered and framed so nicely by the thick branches. I think this is a truly beautiful and well taken photo Lee Ann, and with an excellent DOF.

The deer skull is rather interesting. Its bark around it adds to its plainness. The ground around that may take away a tad. Saturation and other adjustments adds a little quality.
