Such a beautiful capture of this little beautiful Chickadee.
Perfect light and detail. Love that beautiful copper color and warm tones. Excellent work with the background, it blends so good with the bird.

Based on the lighting and soft backgroun, my first impression was this could be a painting. The enter feel of the scene is soft and peaceful. The hints of light surrounding your early morning visitor add to that soft feel. Great capture.

Wow 9:30 am? So the kids go to school in the dark? Our sunrise is 6:30am. We pushed the clocks back an hour beginning ing of Nov. Do you move your clock in the spring and fall? This is a beautiful photo. I just put on sunflower seed hoping to get some cardinals. Were you out side or in shooting out the window?

    Thank you so much ! Yes we only get just over 5 hours of daylight in winter, thankfully we ate slowly gaining our daylight back since the 21st

    Thanks for the info. Is it dark on 12-21 and just staring to get some light on 12-22?

    It seem that we are always loosing or gaining daylight here in Anchorage, so June 21 is our longest daylight day with over 19 hours of light, the sun doesn?t fully set and the sky doesn?t fully darken from June 21 to the end of August. After August, we slowly start to lose daylight by seconds , then minutes each day,the shortest day is Dec. 21, so we start gaining by seconds each day until June. We have already drained over 2 minutes since the 21. Way up north however there are villages that stay in the dark for 60 days starting on Nov. 20. They won?t see the sun at all !

    Very interesting. I must have seen a village way up north. People working, kidding school all in the dark. I don't know if I could stand that. But I guess if you grew up with it. It is just another day. Thanks so much

Lit by the first morning light, with sleep still in his eyes, this Black Capped Chickadee is perched above his first meal for the day. It is so nice to see how you interact with the wild life that surrounds you, thank you for sharing this. Ray

'Chikka' in my native language means 'small;. So the name suits him! What a chubby little fella! The light and shadows, colours and composition have worked out well. Good effort!

Gosh, 9.30? And I thought our winter days were short! What time does it get dark in the afternoon?
Well done on catching this little fella so clearly and with such amazing detail in the dim early morning light.
You done a great job, the focus is spot on, the muted colours work really well and the good DOF makes the eye go straight to the subject.

    Thank you Charolette! During the darkest days we only have daylight for 5 hours here in Anchorage. Thankfully we are gaining daylight now.

a late sunrise indeed and especially very late for a little bird waiting for the light in order to be able to find her daily food; nice lighting with excellent sharp details;

A good looking nature image posted here! Your fine and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of your morning visitor. Like its puffed up appearance. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well taken!
