Love the detail, shimmering wings, body, and eye of your fly! The wings have lovely detail! The lighting is perfect and the clarity shows this fellow off very well. As far as the close-up goes I don't think you could get any closer! Super shot! Congratulations on your win! :o) Nancy

This is one heck of a shot. Flies are not easy to get this well focused and framed.

I see very high detail of all the sensory hairs from head on down. The focus is sharp enough that I can clearly see the sensory hairs of the antenna at the front of the head as well as fine detail of most of the heads structures.

The details of the segmented eye are unclear - that may be more the result of camera/lens angle.

The bottom wing is well defined and reflective the opposite wing not so much.

Overall I see a worthy entry for this contest, good luck ... Bob

An impressive macro capture of this fly, I can see the tiny hairs on it's thorax, as well as your distorted reflection in it's metallic body! Focus and exposure are excellent, as is color. An excellent entry for this contest, wish you all the best!

Super macro shot! Very professional! This closeup is very impressive. The "buzzer" looks like he fits nicely in your garden environment, but I am sure you are glad he didn't show up indoors!

This is an excellent close-up photo of a metallic green bottle fly Lucilia sericata, a very prolific garden pest that sucks the sap out of plants. The photo is well-taken and cropped nicely.

This is indeed a great macro shot of a colorful fly, and I really like the very close approach. The green leaf offers perfect background, and the fly is standing out from it in an excellent way.

Your focus is spot on and sharp and it is clear and well defined details to be seen in the fly. The exposure is perfect.

The tight cropping has worked well, and the fly is well placed within the frame. It is a lovely and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

A beautiful macro shot of this loathsome & colourful Green Bottle fly ~ Lucilia sericata, your reflection seen on it's green mirror like thorax, it's red eyes catching your eye. the light reflected on it's thorax, abdomen & it's gossamer wings is an added bonus. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
