Jewell, I love this. I can picture myself lying in a hammock looking up and seeing these gulls. I can hear the soft sound of the surf swishing on the shore. Love the way you captured soft beams of sunlight breaking thru the clouds. If this isn't tranquility I don't know what is. This is a lovely capture with the perfect name! :o) Nancy

Jewell, I love this. I can picture myself lying in a hammock looking up and seeing these gulls. I can hear the soft sound of the surf swishing on the shore. This is classic photography at its best. You have an excellent eye for a scene and you know how to work it - Kudos for knowing the art.
Color palette is near monochrome but that's what you expect from a seascape.
Getting the birds in silhouette above a calm sea is pure eye candy. But the greatest gift you got with this take is the sun's evening rays - simply exquisite.
I find the cool blue of this piece to be a calm harbor in a storm.
A dynamic DOF pulls the viewer into the scene. Top of the heap camera settings got it all for you.
This take has everything one could want technically and artistically ... Bob

You made my day! I really felt it was one of my favorites, I captured on this trip to the ocean! It was a view from the balcony from the condo. Pure gratification!

Your photo "Tranquility" might also be called "Taking Terns." I assume the birds are black terns and not just gulls in shadow. I notice that grey and yellow sky often happens over the ocean with a brown line at the horizon. I have painted similar scenes. Nicely done.

Thank you. These were definitely gulls. Funny thing- my son was throwing out snacks from out balcony to get them to fly up. So I saw them close up. Got a bit crazy but it was still fun to be able to capture some with the beautiful sky in the background.
I love painting seascapes as well!

I love spontaneous shots. Today's cell phones are fantastic. The trio of birds add points of interest. The light reflecting off the water is natural as is the darkening clouds. The only thing I would have attempted to correct is the white balance. The center of the scene has almost a heat wave of yellowish white light. Just my opinion and could be fixed quit easily.

I love spontaneous shots. Today's cell phones are fantastic. The trio of birds add points of interest. The light reflecting off the water is natural as is the darkening clouds. The only thing I would have attempted to correct is the white balance. The center of the scene has almost a heat wave of yellowish white light. Just my opinion and could be fixed quit easily.

I like the lighting here and the way it shines through the clouds and reflects on the water.
This is well photographed with good stop action on the birds .
