Actually, this deserves a "6" and congratulations on your win, artist friend. The bird is gorgeous as are the colorful colors and the green foliage. This is a fantastic capture also.

Stunning bird and how fortunate to have him pose in your garden.
The focus is sharp on the eye and you have shown the plumage clearly.
The autumn colors blurred in the background make a complementary setting for the Raptor.

well done, like the exposure, like the eye in focus, like the bokeh, reminds me when I had my daughters chihuahua, i had him outside attached to a rope, I went to get him and a hawk like this one was sitting on my grill very still and the dog was standing just below him also very still, I scared the hawk off and the little dog just ran over and jumped behind me. oh well, well done

Thanks so much; your daughter?s chihuahua was definitely lucky you came out when you did! When we got one of our golden retriever puppies in the winter I use to ?hover? over him when he went out at night because we had a pair of great horned owls in the area and I was paranoid that one would swoop down and snatch him since he was so little!

The hawk is beautifully in focus, I can almost feel those feathers they're so clear, and it stands out so well against the blurred background. The exposure is spot on and the colours are lovely.
I've searched everywhere though but can't find a deer skull anywhere! Lol

Beautiful bird. He is posing so well for you. The tight crop and great light make this an outstanding capture. The colorful fall foliage allows him to stand out in the scene. Focus and lighting are well done. His eye has sharp focus on something or someone that could be lunch or an intruder. Great shot.
