The shooters credo - never leave your camera more than arms length away cause you might miss this.
I would have been clicking away as well. Most common cityscapes are a rehash of a skyline or a particular structure. Most uncommon are cityscapes in which the skyline or structure are second banana. That's what I see in this fine take.
For me it's all about that heavenly shaft of light. It pierces the cloud cover like a laser light. The light is soft and textured.
This is singular shot and will never be seen again, that's how fortunate you were ... Bob

I love it when the sun sends beams down like this ! I love to just stand there and take it all in .
You have photographed this well with good focus, this image is clear, exposure is well managed I like the way the clouds up on the left caught the light and of course the main beam !
The structures below give perspective.
