School portraits were the worst photos taken and guess we all have them,i prefer children doing something more naturel,this is cross between the two,i wonder Charlotte if you got any more photos of thse folk because i can see a wealth of photos to be taken,but back to photo i like the girls expression and it does appear as if she does not want to do this,but that aside it is a good photo none the less...Brian
p.s. do you check out the forum on here because a few of us who do so are trying improve the site and want more people to use it and give feedback

It?s the only freckled person I have on photo, so my choice was somewhat limited! Lol But yes I do have other photos of these travellers, in fact I entered one ?The Knife Grinder? as my very first post.
I?ve just added my 2 pennies worth to the latest thread on the forum, I?m with you all the way!

Very nicely photographed. The older girl looks annoyed. I know she wasnt supposed to smile but she had a look of annoyance. Lol. I love her freckles. I'm happy to see you entered this in the contest.

Ha ha I think that?s her cold stare, leaned at a young age by all gypsies and reserved especially for Gadjos (non-gypsy folk)! Off camera she was so bubbly and full of smiles.

This is a beautiful portrait of these two children, I really like the fact that the are NOT smiling, seems much more natural and relaxed, but maybe that's just me. I never liked having portraits done as a child, having to get dressed up, and one year I REFUSED to smile; and of course that was the photo my maternal grandmother had on the wall with my cousins' photos-lol! I understand they were told not to, so it appears more realistic. Focus and exposure are perfect,beautiful natural skin tones; love her freckles! A wonderful entry for this contest, best wishes to you!
