Cheetahs are certainly handsome animals, don't you think?
They also seem to be somewhat ignored as subjects of photographs in comparison to the more 'mainstream popular' 'Big Cats' like Lions and Tigers.
I'm enjoying your fine looking portrait of this sleek specimen very much,Charlotte!

Sean, I?m feeling VERY spoiled by you this week, thank you so much! (Psst this is a blind contest! Lol)
Yes I completely agree with you, they?re one of my favourites in Africa. I?m not sure they?re ignored as such, but perhaps being shyer they?re just a lot harder to capture on film? I certainly saw many more lions than cheetahs.

Cheetah's don't breed as heavily as lions do so they're naturally scarcer .

Ah that would explain it then :-)

They're 'Evolutionarily Specialized' animals! VERY specialized! : D

Beautiful photograph of this Kitty that is taking in all the attention it can get.
The position of the cat within the frame is perfect, so are the details and natural colors.
An excellent contest entry.

Oh, this is beautiful and so clearly and skillfully captured. I am so sorry I don't have a six. The Cheetah is lovely and posed for the snapshot. The small flowers and the rest of the wild are so nice. You have my vote--best wishes in the contest.

This Cheetah is worth a SIX star rating sadly I've run out of sixes. It's eyes are fixed on you while the light shows off his beautiful spotted fur coat & elegant body shape. The grass land makes a perfect backdrop. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

What a beautiful cat laying on the grass in its natural habitat. The composition is good and the colors are realistic. Focus and dof are handled well with good white balance and exposure.

I just hope that this cheetah was not hungry at the time otherwise things could have turned nasty. This picture is well focused and well lit, but the cheetah's head appears to be a bit too near to the centre of the picture. Nevertheless I am amazed that you were courageous enough to take it in the first place so very well done.
Good luck with it

Ha ha don't worry I was safe in the safari minivan!
Thank you for your review, I appreciate it.
I see what you mean about the head being near the middle, but changing its position would have meant either cutting off her backend or making her a lot smaller within the picture - safaris are amazing, but you have to get your picture from wherever the vehicle stops, and you're definitely not allowed outside of the vehicle for obvious reasons.

Good one for the contest and apart from it being from a long lens it does depict an animal in the wild,i have a few of cheetah photos but only from a zoo[not the same somehow]bet this was a good experience...brian

Ha ha well you can use a 35m lens on a cheetah if you want, but I had no intension of getting out of the minibus while she was around! LOL
Yes, it was an amazing experience! My mother left me a little bit of money when she died and as it would have been just a mere drop in the water of my mortgage, I decided to use it going on safari - and I'm so glad I did, a trip to remember!
    Thank you for your review.

What a gorgeous animal the cheetah is , it certainly is keeping its eyes on you as it lays there quite comfortably in the grass.
Well placed within the frame, well focused, this image is clear, exposure is correct, colors and tones appear natural.
I hope you were a safer distance away than this image indicates!
Well composed and presented! Best wishes to you in this contest!

Ha ha from the photo it does look like I?m just walking up to her - hence why I titled it as I did! Lol
But I was safely inside one of those safari mini bus vehicles.
Thank you so much for your review, I really appreciate it.

Here's the money shot folks!

This is absolutely gorgeous. The colors of the cat juxtaposed against the verdant green are vivid, natural and intense.

The markings on the cats face are all clear and sharply seen. The edges of the cats spots are clearly defined and sharp.

The framing generates a ton of visual impact.

A creative presentation that is well photographed ... Bob

Ha ha she does have that look a house cat would give when it has no intention of doing anything you ask!
Thank you very much for your review.
