What a lovely shot of a lovely bird... is this a Baltimore Oriole? The Orioles in Baja Sur, Mexico, where I grew up 1950's 1970s had a lovely song, but my search on the Internet do not reflect this. I guess the Hooded Oriole was what is found there, but they don't sound right. The natives used to catch the males and cage them for song birds, which made me sad, because they would usually trap them when the female was nesting and this left her alone... anyway lovely shot you have here... thanks for sharing!

Hi, Daphne, yes, this is a Baltimore Oriole. That is sad about them capturing the males, usually both parents are busy feeding the babies once they hatch,as well as bringing food to the female while she?s incubating. Thanks so very much for the extra star!

This bird is well positioned in the shot and your focusing is excellent as you can see the light reflected in his eye. His colours are truly beautiful - we do not have orioles where I live so seeing such an orange bird is something else for me.
Good luck in the competition

Thanks very much; the younger males aren?t as vivid as this guy.

The bright oranges and touches of yellows in the Oriole are lovely. The black and touches of white, grays including on his beak, are nice. The eye is seen clearly as is the old wood. Best wishes in the contest.

What a stunning shot! It was really nice of that Oriole to.land on that curved branch. It's a perfect place to get a shot of this gorgeous bird. Love the bright orange color. Love the spread legs of the bird. The pose is wonderful! When you combine that with great lighting and focus you get a great pi ture. Very nice image for the "O" contest! Good luck in the contest! :o) Helvi

Oh my goodness! This is such a gorgeous bird and you have photographed it so very well!
It's a perfect placement of the Oriole within the frame and I love the old tree it has landed on to study the jelly below. After all it has to be sure it will be safe !
Spot on focus, this image is sharp and clear, exposure is correct, the colors snd tones appear natural. Well defined feathers, face and beak, nice clear eye complete with reflection.
Well composed against the soft grey toned background .well presented! Very best wishes to you in this contest!

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine and classical composition offers us an enjoyable view of that pretty orange bird and its location. Textures, colours and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

The photo of the bright orange oriole is stunning! The settings seem to have captured the vivid colors and details of the bird very well. It appears that the brightness and sharpness have been adjusted to enhance the orange color of the bird and make it stand out .The shallow depth of field creates a nice blurred background, drawing more attention to the bird and its features. The detail in the feathers is excellent and gives a sense of texture and depth. A well taken and beautiful picture! You deserve a 6 , but I don't have... sorry

Thanks so much for the great review. We had two males last year that were a very vivid orange, we actually referred to them as Mr Day-Glo when one showed up!

This is a beautiful image and perfect for the competition.
Your composition, with the beautiful oriole perched on that gnarled piece of wood is lovely.
Your photo is in perfect focus showing so much detail and with excellent depth of field blurring the background, the subject stands out very well.
Very best wishes for the contest.
