I LOVE olives and Olive oil.
I watched a cooking show yesterday on Greece.
She was in Sparta and I learned a lot about Kalmata olives which they claim are a super antioxidant.
Beautiful set up and superb work behind your lens Cara.

Beautiful image. So crisp and clean. The detail is wonderful. My only suggestion would have been to create a break between the bowls and the green. Without a greater depth of shadow, it looks like the bowls are floating in the air. Good luck in the contest!!

Well I think I can safely say that your distaste for this fruit has not stunted your creative gene - this is a very fine still life. Just enough visual stimulation in the foreground and center.

The color palette is minimal but has a gentle harmony that makes this a pleasing view.

This is a fine entry for the letter 'O' contest. It also would do well in a color green event as well.

Camera technique is flawless with sharply define lines and shapes.

Good luck this piece should do very well ... Bob

A beautiful picture of the bottle of what I assume is Extra Virgin Olive oil with two white ceramic bowls containing black and green Olives behind them beautifully arranged Olive leaves on the left the word Olives with two drops of Olive oil dropping onto a black Olive this scene set against a blurred Olive green background. Created by your artistic eye for composition & very skilful digital editing techniques with the light source coming from above making the bottle & Olives glow within it.
To bring this scene to life.
Good luck in the contest.

I like olives very much myself and I'm liking this nicely-presented and pleasantly 'out of the ordinary' still life that you've shared with us a great deal too!
'Good Show',my friend!

I really like out of the box entries. The fact that this is very well done on all fronts is perfect. All the basics, focus, composition, lighting, color etc are obviously spot on. For not liking olives you did them justice. Good luck.

This photo immediately evokes the feeling of Greece with its display of olive oil and olives. The placement of the objects is aesthetically pleasing and creates a harmonious composition. The addition of feta cheese would have made the picture even more complete and reminiscent of a Greek taverna :)) The use of natural light brings out the rich, warm tones of the olive oil, making it feel almost as though you can hear the tunes of Zorba music in the background.
The use of Gaussian blur and Topaz Studio Distressed Grunge adds a touch of texture and interest to the image. The addition of Topaz Lens Effects also adds a nice touch.

A great photo for this competition, but also would have been good for the food one too.
It's beautifully lit and arranged, right down to the olive leaves behind the bowls, and those two drops of oil beneath the writing are a genius idea!
I think this will do very well in the contest, but I wish you the best of luck too.

you did a wonderful job composing your still life creation. I like the coloring of the background the fade in. the shine on the olives is eye catching as is the bowl and oil jar. excellent job!!
