Don,t no if this has been cropped a lot and resized because the glebe is not pin sharp and because its still a small feature of the overall image it suffers slightly i feel and the subject just needed to be i feel bigger in this one...Brian

    Brian,
Thanks a million for your review. It was taken at full zoom & then cropped by 50% before being resized for FAR .. Maybe if I had a fancy DSLR rather than my Compact camera I could have got a sharper photo. C'est la vie I have to manage with what I have.

I love the background of the ripples on the water, the reflections of the forest near by. The bird is cute, lovely colours on him. This almost looks like a painting

Beautiful photograph of this little Grebe that can be easily camouflaged in the reflections of grasses on the green water.
Nice details and overall pleasing presentation Susan.

Well done for capturing this photo Susan, in my experience grebes are very shy and are usually gone by the time I get my camera out!
I love all the reflections and ripples on the water, it almost gives it an abstract feel.
You've placed him well within the scene, beautifully adhering to the rule of thirds.
It's a shame we have to make photos so small for FAR as it's made the grebe slightly pixelated, which I'm sure he wasn't in the larger version.
A lovely shot of this little guy, thanks for sharing.

    Charlotte,
Thanks a million for your complementary review in this little Grebe coming up from a dive. I just focused on the river where it when in the moved the camera to where it came up Resizing does affect the clarity of my pictures especially if I have to crop the shot to start with.

Hey, I use Paintshop too; great program, and cheaper than it's biggest competitor. Adding the frame really was an excellent idea. Great detail, color and contrast.

Your photo resembles a fine painting Susan with a wonderful abstract feeling highlighted by the ripples of the water. Beautiful capture of the natural colors and a lovely reflection to be seen. Such a beautiful and natural setting, thank for sharing this talented photo!

What an attractive little bird this is Susan. I love its coloration, exquisitely distinctive.

There are 4 varieties of Grebe in this part of the globe. But none are as attractive as this one.

Nice reflection from the river water. The framing of your composition is not cluttered and presents the subject matter with maximum visual impact.

Your camera settings are spot on and have produced a high resolution image of good contrast, color and tonal range.

The camera angle is great it presents the Grebe in a very eye catching pose.

All in all this is very attractive take... Bob

I really like the flow of the water and it various patterns and colors. The composition overall is nice, and has the potential of being a dramatic image, because of the patterns hinted in water.

I think that the image needs to be in better focus, especially on the bird, the main component of the image.

I think if the above concerns, the focus and clarity were corrected it would be a really good photo.
