I tried acrylics once and certainly like them better than oils. Mainly because of the dry time. You used wonderful placement in your scene. Depth is great and the sunflowers in the corner are a nice touch. Thanks for sharing!

I love this! I don't know what you'd call the style, naive art? Well, whatever its name it's one of my favourite styles and you've achieved it so well here!
The whole composition is so pleasing and interesting - I wish I had places like this to go to in my mind!
Very good luck in the competition, I'll be rooting for you!

Thank you Charlotte. I?m not sure what naive art is. Hmmm

It?s a compliment I assure you! Look it up online, probably the most famous of naive artists is Henri Rousseau - his is not the same style as yours, but still naive art, there are other well known artists, but I can?t think of their names right now!

Okay Thanks! I love Rousseau. I see what you mean. I am a self taught artist with little education on Art history and techniques.

Yes me too! I think his work is stunning! I?m so pleased you looked it up - now you know it was a compliment!! Lol

Great entry for the contest. I love all the Spring colours you used in this landscape painting in acrylics. I particularly like how you've painted the sunflowers. Good use of light and shade. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

This is a beautiful scene and from your imagination too. It is pretty as a picture with so many spring and colourful elements to it. The sunflowers really grab my attention as does the aqua waters with pink lilies. In fact everything does. It is wonderfully crafted. Sorry to hear that things have been difficult for you. However you have created such a beautiful place in your imagination that it can't help be a positive influence. All the best in the contest!

There is nothing stark about this wonderful country scene. You have included all that would describe a fine spring day. This is your world and and the sunflowers are symbolic beauty. The clematis draped arch, the pond lilies and the other brightly colored flowers and the pink clouds are in your signature style. This is your way to comfort and happiness in spring . The best of luck in the contest. Ray

Jewell, I love you imagination! I was born with an anxiety disorder and you take me to places that ease it. This is a lovely scene ! I'd so enjoy standing by that arbor and taking in that lovely pond with the lilies. Love the flowers and the little gazebo you added. Love the way you set this up !You bring joy my friend! :o) Nancy

Oh my goodness! This is immediately a pleasure to view! This has every element of a beautiful day and it's a place I would love to be , it's just gorgeous and so very well created with such amazing details all the way through!
I love those sunflowers on the right ,I associate sunflowers with happiness, the little wooden walkway bridge with the stone wall bordering it is a perfect leading line to the church, the blue sky above has a perfect amount of cloud detail and I'm loving the pink tones , we see a tree on the right and its branches reach across the top . I love the fresh green foliage and the way you have placed it throughout this scene. Love that little gazebo to the right of the church, I think you thought of everything ! you are fortunate to be able to create such a positive and happy scene .
It's truly outstanding ! Thank you !

This is beautiful artwork. What medium did you use? The sunflowers, water flowers, those across the trellis and scenery of greenery, water, sky and bridge and walkway are outstanding. The grass before the lovely bridge could have some short blades coming up as they are on the side so as not to look more flat but outstanding as the other is. But it, too, is good. Fine work and please hang in there. I seek God in prayer when others get depressed and when I am burdened, feeling a need for others or myself. I recommend Christ.

Oh, Jewell, it is beautiful, simply beautiful. And, it is difficult to get acrylics as realistic especially with some scenes but you did it! Could you please give me your phone number, and/or email again? I'd love to stay in touch with you and several others on this site. I have to leave soon to get back to my son's and my novel, my novel, and other art institutions. Too, unless God divinely heals my back, I am facing surgery. Love and appreciate you much.
