I like that this tells the story of people trying to just get by. In today's world, we all could take something out of it. Great color, contrast and detail.

Yeah life?s pretty hard out there!
Thank you so much for your review!

The image suits the song title perfectly.
The lighting as you pointed out is a little harsh which does spoil the clarity of the people panning.
The composition is good and definitely an interesting subject.

It was super sharp on my computer, I think having to reduce the size so much causes over pixilation - well that?s my excuse anyway! Lol

Quite possibly I have found that has happened with some of my larger files

Yes me too! I think the original of this one was around 12mb!

Don't apologize for the light the harshness highlights the desperation of the "Tin Pans".

Its been estimated that during the California rush of 1848-1851 less than one in a thousand "Tin Pans" found their fortunes at the bottom of Suters Creek.

This shot is well framed.

The camera settings are sharp and accurate.

Well taken journalism shot... Bob

Thanks Bob, I wouldn?t be surprised if the statistics were much the same here!

Those poor devils! : (
Well,it's an interesting picture though,my friend!
I'll be coming across as an 'evil minded' Socialist malcontent if I say much else and since I don't wanna' stir 'decent' people up any worse than I already do let's just leave it at that!

Oh Sean, do please say what you want, I think you might find I agree with you! Those ?poor devils? will only get a fraction of the value of what they find, while the big foreign companies get rich raking it in while pretty much sitting on their asses! When they found sapphires there, the national debt could have been paid off within the first six months, but due to those companies and the high rate of corruption, Madagascar remains the poorest country in the world that isn?t at war!

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of the action before you. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

Oh a definite no no! Madagascar is a dangerous place, especially amongst large groups of people - and even more so when carrying valuables like a camera (which would also feed their family for a year!) Many carry knives and will quickly cut the straps of cameras, handbags etc. I've been robbed like that more than once, despite being in the protective company of other Malagasy people! I do have other photos of lone individuals panning for gold, but they didn't quite fit the Rush bit of the title! Lol

Your welcome, yes i have been in some places that on second thoughts would not have been wise to take cameras etc

Interesting shot. Thanks for the story behind this pic. Hopefully many of them were lucky to find some nuggets to make their life better. The light and shadows, colours and, composition have worked out well. Good effort!

Thank you so much for your review. I did ask around at a later date, and some were lucky, but many weren't.

a good entry into the "music title" contest and and excellent capture of these poor people looking for a piece of gold that would make them rich;
