A good looking image posted here together with touching notes! Your fine and full composition gives us a good look at hands old and young. Textures and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

I hope you don't mind but I downloaded this so I can show it to my own mom. I'm spending the night with her tonight. We are approaching the anniversary of my dad's death. Luckily my last words to him was as we were getting off the phone. He said I love you and I said I love you too Dad. He died by a freak accident 2 days later. My mom slipped into dementia complicated by grief. I'm the only one who cares for her. She gets an occasional call from her siblings. But they don't see what I see. Or give of themselves. This pic means so much to those of us who still love and respect our parents, even at age 61.

Awwww! I don't mind..spend as much time with her as you can! I know it gets tough. My brother and I were lucky to live close to her and be there alot. She was 93 when she passed! All in her own home till the last 3 months. 💜💜

My mom is still in the house she and my dad retired to. I moved near them about a year later. They were married 60 years. We talk about him everytime I come over. She's 83 now. I don't ever want to put her anywhere. Her memory, cognition, false memories can get kinda bad at times. I'm spending another night tonight. Worked in her yard and mopped floors. I really miss the woman I grew up admiring and wanting to be just like her. Went to college, served in the Army, had a 3 plus year career as a state analyst. She carried herself with dignity. Taught me to have self dignity and respect. To see her putting 2 broomstick in the runner of the slider, having me change the locks, add door chimes, pulling the blinds. There is nothing to fear here. The house is tucked in the forest, although a wide clearing all around to protect from a falling tree, and Dad's trout pond, nature. It's peaceful here. She has security lights and dogs. But Dad was a cop before he retired and cool yet decisive in chaotic situations. Everyone's go-to guy. I miss having him to talk to. We were so much alike. And his absence I think has caused Mom, myself, even their dogs to realize there is a huge void now. I voted for your pic. I gave my reason as being because it brought tears to my eyes and snot to my nose. I hope I have another 10 with Mom. 93 is a ripe age. You were blessed.

Your folks sound so much like mine! My dad passed 20 years ago so mom was alone for many years. He was just as amazing! We are losing that whole generation which is so sad. Mom was still living in the house we grew up in so it was hard to let it go Bless you for taking care of her! It's rough but you'll be so glad you did.thanks for your vote💜

Your story is so touching and your capture of your loving mother's hand is adorable, as well as well done. I am so sorry for your tremendous loss and this scene is endearing and so appropriate for the contest. Thanks for sharing.

A very touching moment that you have captured and will always have as a memory. Sorry for your loss.
The aging hand shows a long life against the younger one.
Like the black and white.

I am so sorry for your loss, I know how hard it is.
This is a lovely and moving photo of your two hands clasped together, I can see why you cherish it.
Focus is very good, showing beautiful detail in the wrinkles, veins and age spots - I do love the hands of the elderly.
I like the close crop very much.
Good luck in the competition.

A simple photograph that still shows so much. Even without the context of your mother and her passing, the photo can still leave a lasting impact with its meaning and beauty.
