This is a wonderful capture of this guy! He looks like a huge owl for sure. Great detailing shown of his fluffy body and legs as well as the detailing on his wings. Perfect sky for backdrop with no distractions! Well done!

The photography experience doesn't get any better than this, and I'm not talking so much about the pic as I am the interaction you had.

I can't count the number of times over the years when I was about to give up on a site when the gift arrives.

As for myself, and correct me if I'm wrong, those are the takes you cherish the most and display most proudly.

I am giving this exceptional shot a 6 in part for its technical and artistic merits but more so for you capturing your gift of a 'moment of joy'... Bob

Thank you for sharing this amazing shot. Owls always seem such characters, but what astonished me at seeing this fellow so clearly is the fur/feather? covering all the way down his legs and even his feet. Do they have to contend with very cold winters, perhaps?

Thanks so much! To answer your question, we don?t ever see freezing temperatures here in SW Florida any time of year, so your theory doesn?t fit here. I am amazed though when I see ducks swimming around in a half frozen pond with near zero temperatures. They don?t seem to have any protection on their legs.

What a tremendous capture of the Great Horned Owl fledgling stretching his wings getting ready to fly. Focus and clarity are excellent showing some wonderful details of his plumage, and what a great face. Good luck in the contest.

What an expression on that owl's face and the position of it is amazing, how you captured it all so skillfully. Almost like one of those creatures I saw years ago in a movie. The sky is nice. Best wishes in the contest. This is very skilled work, indeed a winner.

This is a very impressive capture. You not only captured the image of this fledging Great Horned Owl, you captured his attitude. As soon as I saw this I wanted to review it. If you posted on Sunday every one has a a fist full of sixes. I don't have any now but if I did it would be yours. Fantastic Timothy. Ray

Many thanks for the review! And I was wondering why I wasn?t seeing 6 stars for what I thought was one of my prize photos.

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine, full and appropriate composition captures us a dramatic moment. Like the expression and wing span. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well done and good luck!
