Aw, how sad but a story wonderfully told with your photograph. I hope he gets to play with his friend soon! Very good camera techniques showing a lovely clear image. Great composition. Suzanne

Thanks Suzanne. He really is preoccupied with looking down there, hoping to catch a glimpse of Sparky. I wouldn't be surprised if he dug a hole for Sparky to tunnel out and escape for some play.

I loved your prose, sad as it was. Very imaginative and true story. The dog is sweet. The grass is nice, with the two rocks. The large tree trunks are nice. Again, such a sad story. Bless your dog.

Thanks. Just a couple who over reacts and I say, let them play. Life is too darn short.

This is such a poignant shot, your dog hoping his friend will show up. I like the back view it shows the anticipation he must be feeling. Beautiful photo.

When dogs meet their kind, a magical connection sparks to life. Excitement fills the air as wagging tails and sniffing noses greet one another. It reminds us of the profound joy and understanding within the world of dogs. Excellent story and shot. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, most dogs that have loving homes are nice dogs. I think my dog was barking at their kids who were playing close to our property. He doesn't know where the property line is. They over-reacted and said my dogs both attacked her kids and dog. That never happened. Their dog comes in our yard and even comes in the house when the door is open. They all get along. But my dogs seem to understand and don't go down the hill anymore.

:) Smart dog. We need to keep training them regularly.

A good looking nature image posted here together with sad notes too! Your fine and classical composition offers us an enjoyable view of that patient and lonely dog. Colours, textures and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely done!

Thanks. He got in trouble for barking at their kids (he doesn't understand property lines) and their golden retreiver comes to visit and comes in the house. This is at my mom's house. I think the golden is a sweet dog but it causes her little dogs to lose their minds. I don't have a problem with it. But his owner raised a huge issue about my dog barking from the road at her kids. Even threatening to shoot him. I found it all amusing till she said that. I don't take kindly to threats of violence against my family. My dogs are my family. She and her husband came up and stood in my mom's driveway daring me to do something. Wow. I didn't want that for my mom so I went home. It's all too bad. Kids, dogs, they work it out. Humans could take a few cues from them.
