Bob,
A beautiful picture of this pink Begonia bathed in dappled sunlight with two more trying to get into the picture, Beautifully framed by their green foliage. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

That is a very healthy looking one. The clarity is great. The capture of the light is great. The angle of the shot of this colorful Begonia is great. The presentation is balance and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall.

Nice composition of such a pretty begonia flower. They have such a nice shade of pink. Against the green the color balance is nice as always.
Good focus and balance as well as exposure of your pretty flower.

Thanks for displaying your settings so I can learn from them. This is a simple photograph, but excellent. Great color, contrast and detail.

Not as simple as one might think. This is one of the 25 shots it took to get the desired image. Take the plain and the ordinary and compose it in a way you haven't seen before. That's the essence of simple photography.

Pardon me for rambling, it's an old teachers habit.

Thanks for the rine review and rating... Bob

Ah Jesuel, that is the beauty of a fine 1:1 Macro Lens - brings things ultra close for high image resolution and fine subject definition. The rest is all about composing the scene. That's the hard part for me being so left brained.

Thank you for the fine review and rating ... Bob

You did well Bob and should be pleased with your experiment of different settings. I would have cropped the left side but personal taste. Color and focus are great.

LOL! Brian told me I should crop the right side. I tried what he recommended. Macro lens' are all about high resolution and fine detail. Resizing to 8.5 x 11 after cropping I saw that petal crenulations and veins were absent.

I even went so far as to crop both sides. There was so much bright pink being beamed off the monitor, I had to wear a pair of cool sunglasses to finish processing.

Thank you for the fine review and rating ... Bob

No problem Bob I have had images do the same when I crop so left them as they were i am not clever enough to clone or do higher level editing like some on site but then I prefer minimal editing.

Bob very nicely done. You solved the focus problem by stopping down to f/32 and a 1/4sec, you increased the DOF just right. You have a very nice capture here, it worked out fine. Ray

And it's a darn good thing to Ray. Because that was as tight a pin hole aperture as I was gonna get with that lens.

Thank you so very much for your kind words and great rating. I am glad you liked the post ... Bob

A good looking image posted here into the competition together with interesting notes too! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of that beautiful bloom. Colours, textures and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well done and good luck!

Hi Brian, I did what you suggest. With the right side gone the frame is an odd size and out of balance. So, I took the other one on the left. The results, let me put it this way, how much pink in the frame can one stand?

The other issue has to do with resolution. As you know a macro lens is all about fine resolution. By cropping just the right side and then resizing the image I saw a visible lose of detail. The fine crenulations of the petals was absent, while the green leaves retained more definition than the blossom.

It's always fun tracking down a new thought or approach to post processing.

Your review coupled with a fine rating, what more can a fella want, thanks... Bob
