Bob, You have revealed the amazing inners of this beautiful crimson Rhododendron. The back petal has a leopard like pattern and it is slightly back lit for a faint glow. this is a very fine presentation. Ray

Interesting notes. I did the dame idea last night with some iris blooms. I had to move in and out to find the perfect focal point. The darness forces us to really examine the scene to pull out the details of the stamen. Use of the shadows give a good DOF.

. . . said the spider to the fly. Or in this case, said the flower to the camera.
Excellent shot Bob, and not an easy one! But you've achieved it well, the detail in the nectar pods (or whatever they're called) is incredible and yes, very alien looking.

Stunning closeup image of the Crimson Rhodo with sharp focus on the center of flower. The color is very natural and the composition is great.

Your process is interesting. This photography is skilled; the capture lovely. I really like the break-up of the pinks/reds with the blacks, speckles. At the end, I notice it is you, artist Bob, and those last sentences are amazingly mind-opening to what you are referring to. Interesting narrative/title too.

A good looking nature image posted here! Your fine, full and appropriate macro composition offers us an enjoyable view of the interior of that lovely bloom. Textures, colours and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well taken!

Can tell that dof is a problem at this close range as some of the stamens are slightly out of focus, but takes nothing away from the overall context in this one, strong color as well....Brian

Hi Brian.. The Iris and Lily family I think are so difficult to get all the central structures is sharp focus. A little bit brighter light and I might have been able to stop down to f/18.

Thank you for the fine review and rating. I'm glad you liked the post ... Bob
