An amazing photo of the pine cone. The muted colors in the background lay the foundation of the needles protruding from the pine cone and the shapes and different shades of green that bring the pine cone to life. This is a winner in my books.

looks like the cone is starting to grow. lol..the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of this cone and needle is great. the capture of the light is great. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

No need to bother entering the Green contest now then, I can see the winning shot right here!
But although it's a stunner, I'm not parting with my six (which I know you have your eye on! Lol) just yet, as there's the one bit at the top which niggles me as it goes beyond the frame - remove that bit and I'll change my rating (tee hee). It's probably the bit that attaches the cone to the tree, but without it the rest would be like it was suspended in midair and would be truly, truly stunning!
As for focus, dof and exposure, all is as excellent as I would expect from you! Yeah I'd know your style anywhere! :)

Didn't know what to do with the top! It's one of those "iffy things"! It was the branch that attached the pine cone to the tree. The fact that you still thought this was special even with that, still means a lot! Thank you for the wonderful review!

And this is a good one for my contest, apart from its different, the sharpness you have got in this combined with the dof with background being blurred is well good and wish when some people post images on here should learn from this, well done...Brian

Wonderfully expressive and dramatic. Everything worked for me, from the illustrative style, balance, color, texture and the faces; seen and unseen. Well done! Good luck!

Hi! The radial needles of this pine cone branch along with the single pine cone, against the back drop of such a lovely green is perfect for the "The Color Green" contest! I love the details and very clear capture you have here! Good luck in the contest!

It is a great entry into the Green contest. You've captured the birth of a pine cone with its bumpy skin and interesting shape.
The radial needles are spiky and very clear.
While green is the focus here, the bits of color are lovely.
Another nice feature is the robust look overall proving once again that mother nature is beauty defined.
