Your narrative, full of prose, alone is worth a "6." This really is a beautiful capture as well, the bud-like flowers beneath and those on the left as well as your blurring. The monarch is what is gorgeous however. I know how difficult it is (for me) to capture such a pose, it truly takes a skilled photographer such as yourself.

This is a beautiful butterfly! I love the vivid colors ! Nice placement within the frame allowing such a good look at its wind pattern.
Spot on focus, this image is sharp and clear and your exposure is perfect, the colors and tones appear natural. I like the flowers on left and the way the right portion of butterfly hangs over the edge of the flowers. Well defined detail in wings, head and antennas .

I'm glad you liked the post Pat. This one is an Eastern Seaboard Monarch - meaning that being in NH it has about 3,000 miles to fly to return home in Mexico. The Western Monarch has it easy with only 1200 to Southern Cal.

Nice shot of this beauty! Unfortunately these batteries are not very common any more. They used to be very common, at least in my area here in Kentucky. You may see a very few from time to time.

Hi Sesha.. This little Butterfly is one of natures true wonders. For in a very few days it will begin its flight on gossamer wings back to its winter home in Mexico - just 3,000 miles away (4,828 Km).
