Brian,
A brilliant shot of this Grasshopper perched on th the end of branch bathed in sunshine that highlights it's head, antenna, body & long legs while sparkling in it's eye. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Insects and Arachnids are tough bugs to photograph Brian. Although this one ain't bad, at least its sitting still.
The 'lens side' legs are all in sharp focus as is the thorax and most of the abdomen. There is just enough light glare at the ridge of the eye socket to render it less defined. The markings on the head plate are clear and well seen. The mandibular arms are seen but softly.
The impression of antennae motion blur is not due so much slow shutter release but more a result of Quantum Mottle from the high ISO.
By increasing Exposure Compensation by +1.0 that gives you some options. Like lowering ISO to 800, 1/2500 sec., @ f/7-8.
Just a thought... Bob

This is a bug that I have never seen before, you have captured it well Brian and I like its placement within the frame . Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is mostly good, there is a spot of over exposure near the bugs eye, it shows as a spot of purple just to the left of the eye. You might try desaturating that spot.
You have brought out nice detail in this interesting bug.
Well composed, nicely presented! ( if you are able to desaturate that purple , I will update my review)
