They are very colorful out of the water with bright gradients of yellow blending into a dark forest green and black splotches along their back and sides. Wish I could have gotten a shot of him out of the water. I did catch him later but he was in no mood to pose for another photo!

Funny term, "capture" because that is exactly what I did about half an hour later. Far as I know, it was the same snake. Took a selfie of him and myself on my cell phone but he was not all that cooperative. Returned to the water somewhat annoyed but unharmed.
