This is a lovely portrait of the violinist. Your sense of proportion and foreshortening are adeptly portrayed. The expression on her face, conveys concentration on the music and her emotions as well. You're technique at doing this is very well done.

This is such a lovely scene, Carl. The violinist has well-defined facial features and I can really see how focus she is, while playing and listening to her violin. That red dress made a striking contrast with the dark background as well as the overall scene. If there is one thing that needs improvement in this painting is the choice of color of her hair which is a bet too yellow in my screen. Maybe a brunette or just blonde will be more realistic. Overall, every details is sharp and well-drawn and the choice of landscape orientation fits well.

Thank you for your comments and 5-star rating. I appreciate both. I very much appreciate your critique about the hair. I had a problem with it from the beginning. I learned a lot from doing this painting and will be correcting the mistakes I made here with my next painting I have assigned the working title of 'The Flutist'.

What a beautiful image. I love the shadows. I can see where the light dances off her skin. The painting is so realistic. You are truly a great artist.

She is a beautiful blonde young woman, she is so well rendered with great attention to detail . Her eyes are closed but what beautiful work to emphasize them with the well shaped brows and lashes, we feel her concentration as she play the violin, the violin is so well shown here with such great detail , color , tones and a good show of the way the light falls upon it.
She is well positioned within the space , her close fitting red dress shows that she has a fit and trim body.
Her arms are accurately placed and her hand positions are well shown .
The black background was the perfect choice here, it keeps the viewers eye on this young woman and her violin .
Very well arranged and presented!

Wonderful oil painting of this young girl that is in full concentration of playing her violin.
It does remind me a little of a portrait of a lady Gaga.
Beautiful colors with spectacular texture and detail. Awesome!

This oil on canvas is beautiful in every way, composition, colors, details. The style is both realistic and a bit whimsical. I went to school for art all through one year of college then just stopped. So there 40 years later. I'm learning all over again. I used to do oil paintings a lot in high school. It's a commitment. Good for you!!! :))

Best wishes,

Alex

Thank you for your comments and ranking. I appreciate both. I think I know what you mean about producing art. For me, it is a must, not a want. I create objects of beauty for the thrill of doing so, the satisfaction of manifesting something that has not existed before I did it, and the personal pleasure I feel when my work pleases others.

This is a beautiful painting that shows the intense concentration needed to play the violin well. The dark background serves to highlight your subject matter well. Good luck.
