This has a mystical affect. The colours you have captured speak of olden days in history. There is a creative glow that makes the view drawn in. I loved to wonder round this seeing how a kitchen was in a great house. Articles in the room are in good detail. Creative use of light has worked well.

Nice wooden furniture. The clarity is great. The angle of the shot of the furniture and windows is great. The capture of the light is great. The presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall.

The way you've captured the light here is stunning! The interplay of shadows and highlights creates such a rich, immersive depthâ€"it feels like I could step right into the scene. Well done! Good luck!

Charlotte,
A beautiful & atmospheric picture of the kitchen office in Hampton Court the light that fills this picture gives space for Ghosts to move about unnoticed. taken with superb camera techniques & shop focus. Goodluck in the contest.

    Hi Susan,
Thank you SO much for your wonderful review and extra star, I really appreciate both!
Hmm I'd better not take Ben there then, he claims to see ghosts in the most unlikely of places!! LOL
    Thanks again,

This is and excellent submission to the contest. The subdued amber lighting ads to the old feeling. Antique windows and older wooden furniture complete the scene. Good luck.

I just couldn't give you a five for this. Great use of HDR to render this scene. Did you do it by hand or use software ? Either way great shot with a super 'olde' ambience.

    Hi Len,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and high rating!
I used software to achieve the HDR - wouldn't even know how to go about it without! If you do, then please tell, I'd love to try out the whole process manually.
    Thanks again,

The process is much more complicated but gives much more control. Basically you use layer masks and brush in/out on the masks to get a similar/better result. I mostly use software nowadays though.

Thanks Len, I'll look into it, I think it might be fun to try to do it from scratch!

HI Charlotte, I like the final HDR you got by combining the 3 images. The lighting looks very much the way it would have been in dimly lit kitchen. Love the glow on the right. It's fun seeing the furniture just as it was way back then. All in all you have a very cool shot!
Good Luck in the photo contest! This image so fits it! :o) Nancy

Thanks for your review Brian. Yes their prices are getting pretty high, but just imagine how much it costs the owners to run them!

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us a very enjoyable view of that historical room. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!
