An interesting entry to the contest. The barren landscape leading the eye to the volcano in the background but still supporting the growth of the prickly pear shows us how versatile and adaptable mother earth is. Good luck.

Hi Charlotte, I love the little cactus, but this shot is so cool I would have loved the image if it wasn't there. very interesting Love the way you took the shot as we seem to be looking up hill. Love the focus and lighting in all areas of the shot. Great entry for the mother earth contest1 Wishing you Luck! :o) Nancy

Wow what an interesting shot you have here. At first glance, I thought it was taken out in Arizona. And then I read your notes which were very interesting. Thank you. It's a beautiful shot with the cactus up front in the right most third of the composition. It definitely competes with the mountain top for focal point. The colors are bold and the sharply focused images are really wonderful to look at.

interesting one this charlotte guess you were on the way up tarifa mountain [think thats what its called] have been up there and the landscape is volcanic and quite bizarre, but getting the prickly pear in has given this depth plus interest....Brian

The sharpness and clarity in every little detailâ€"from the textures of rocks and land to the softness of the cloudsâ€"showcase a mastery of both technical skill and artistic vision.Well done! Good luck!

A very lovely visual present here of this landscape. Composition shades tones and presentation as well done. Thank you for sharing this unique scene.

Very good composition with tweaking the one third landscape rule creating an interesting scenic view. The prickly pear juxtaposed against the mountain, or volcano peak really causes a nice interpretation of depth while the whole vision is of beautiful vast desolation. Reasons for my six-star vote.

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Quite a few relatives of mine and friends have been there but not me so far. Your fine, full and appropriate composition suggests to me that it is a barren and arid region? Nicely done!

Thanks Nikman, it's an interesting place but rather ruined by tourists now.

Hi Charlotte, It is nice to see the struggle and success for this Prickley Pear in this questionable place. On the other hand, the area is starting to green up and the Prickley Pear is blossoming. Plenty of hope going on. Love you work. Ray

Cool capture. The angle of the shot of this lone plant with mountain in background is great. The clarity is great.. the capture of the light is great. The presentation is balanced and eye interesting to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall
