RG,
A beautiful picture of this Bumblebee landing on a flower. Taken with superb camera techniques & razor sharp focus. Do you know what species this bee is?

Thank you, and I don't know, someone said a Bombus spp. A yellowhead bumble bee, Bombus flavifrons. A field of study I never did, Veterinary Medicine was my cup of tea. Can I say I was a damn good Veterinarian in my time.

Hi RG these female worker bees can be quite pip as you await them to land on just the right flower. You were successful. Very nice shot and thank you for sharing. Ray

Sheer luck, the dogs pulling me one way, the wind blowing, hoping there would be one chance. The dogs quit pulling, wind stopped for a microsecond and the bee said here am, better bee quick.

Hi RG.. As you just found out, patience is indeed a virtue when attempting to photograph a Bombus.
This shot is a very good start. The color is a little on the pale side but still bright and contrasty - "Eye candy".
The positioning of the Bombus shows it off very well. The wings are both fully visible - Excellent.
Overall, the image is a trifle soft. Since the entire image is soft and lacking in fine detail I would hazard a guess that the exposure time was too long or the focusing is off just a bit.
Photographing anything that is alive requires an exposure time of 1/2500 or faster. If you have Auto Focus use it, for that can focus faster and much more accurately than you can manually. If you have Image Stabilization, use it when you are shooting at speeds slower than 1/200. ISO no greater than 1000.
Use the Kelvin scale for white balance control. For Daylight start at 5000K down to 4000K. For overcast 7000K @ no higher than ISO 800.
Basically, I like this image. Keep trying you have an eye for photography and the patience to get the shot... Bob

Walking the dogs and came to this group of flowers blooming and lots of bees getting their pollen, the wind was blowing off on on. Had to wait until this blossom was not moving, the wind stopped for a microsecond and a bee landed on it. The dogs in one hand, my I phone in the other, then sheer luck. Not able to wait, just shoot and hope, didn't really know what I captured until I was home. Something Mother Nature gave me as a gift.

Had to bee quick, the dogs and wind were not helping, patience paid off, sheer luck sometimes is all you have.

Would normanally have given this a four mainly because although its close up it does need to be sharper but giving the other half for waiting an hour to get this[more patience than i have] maybe you were to close to get it sharp [not sure] would try again though...Brian

Waiting for this to happen was some fun and watching the bees do their thing, wind blowing so the flowers were always moving around. I am sure you realize any bee is only there for a second or two, then off and away. A microsecond is all I had, and sheer luck .

you are welcome, yes have tried them myself and it is difficult to get right

Thanks a lot, the dogs and wind wee not helping. The wind stopped for a microsecond, the dogs quite pulling, then here this bee landed. Sheer luck.

A nice composition showing this bee on a flower. I just wish it were little clearer and in better focus. It appears pretty blurred when I view it.

Thank you, could not ask the bee too hold still. It was rapidly off to another flower and the wind was blowing. Focus was not a priority.

Shakespeare will sue me. "Bee's wings or not to Bee's wing, that is the question, tis nobler to just to fly away for more pollen"

Beautiful shot! Patience pays! The framing, light, shadows, and colours all come together perfectly. A slightly sharper image would look better. Nice effort! Thanks for sharing!

The microsecond and timing wee just there. The wind was not in my favor nor the dogs holding still, pure luck and what was taken, sometimes you never know, just shoot and pray.

Took an hour of not moving to wait, the wind was blowing and the bees would disappear at times, sheer luck to catch this picture.
