John Hillman is a keen photographer. His father was in the British Army and as a child he attended 13 different schools (mostly Army schools) in very many different parts of the world.
He went to art college specialising in water colour, print making and pottery, achieving the grade of Distinction. Afterwards he moved over to the Sciences and obtained a BSc degree in the Sciences and MSc degree in Computing and Information Technology.
He used to lecture in Computing and Information Technology to degree level and below at two colleges in Kent in the United Kingdom.

Six years ago he caught a very bad attack of influenza but (as usual) went back to teaching far too early. Further serious complications arose and he ended up with adenovirus which caused temporary blindness, which then soon afterwards spiralled right down into Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) or M.E.

Unable to do anything at all for three and a half years, due to the overpowering, overwhelming and extreme exhaustion of the condition he decided to develop his photographic interests as far as he could whilst his strength slowly returned.

He specialises in photo restoration and is developing a keen interest in landscape and architectural photography.

Before his illness he travelled widely and this is now returning as an important feature of his life.

He hopes to make a new career in photography whilst still teaching on a very part time basis.

He is married to a fantastic wife and has two wonderful sons.

Most of his landscape photographs are shot at 12mp with the intention of producing huge Super A1 prints (at least 3 feet by 2 feet in size)as he feels that condensing the image down to a smaller size considerably reduces the impact, composition, space awareness and fine detail of such photographs. At full size these photographs are absolutely stunning.

John has exhibited locally in the Gravesend area of Kent, in Brighton and also in London. Some of his photographs have been published in tourist magazines and in local newspapers.

Note: I've decided to change my head shot. It's a few years old but much better than the one I had here before.
