Linda Wetzel: You build up an account to post your work by completing reviews or by purchasing member dollars. You then post your work for two or three days depending upon which certificate you have purchased. You can buy member cent pumps that move your post up the listing order. The higher you are in the listing and the more money you pay for a review the more reviews you will earn on your work. You also win member cent pumps, advertising banners and lucky leprechaun certificates from reviewing. You can go to your profile and click on certificates and there will be an explanation and member dollar cost for each type available.
If you receive a particularly helpful review from a member you can reward them by clicking on nominate and nominate them for the monthly reviewing award.
If you have never reviewed artwork, search the internet for tips on how to critique art and photographs. Remember to give other members a fair review. Do not make personal attacks. Tell them what you like: subject, colors, style, brush work, etc. If the work needs improvement such as the perspective is faulty, the proportions are wrong, they took their focal point too close to the edge of the canvas, etc., then feel free to say so and take off half points or points as you feel is fair. Remember that the purpose of our community is to aid one another in getting better at our respective crafts. Review the rule of three and the principle of the golden mean to help you understand good composition. You should also familiarize yourself with the basics of color theory. There are many sites on Utube and the net that can explain principles and techniques of which you are unfamiliar. Welcome aboard and feel free to contact me via private email any time you have questions. If I cannot assist I will refer you to someone who can. You will find that this is a friendly and helpful community.
