Hello, my name is Bob. I live in northern California in the Sacramento area. I fell in love with photography while I was in the army back in 1974. My roommate loaned me his camera for a weekend pass I was going on while stationed in Ft Devens, MA. It was October and all the leaves had started to turn. I was so struck by the beauty I wanted to capture it all. My next paycheck I decided I was going to buy an SLR camera. I decided on a Canon TX and have had Canon cameras ever since.
Once I got out of the army I decided I wanted to learn more than just snapping pictures and sending them off to the drug store to get developed. I proceeded to start attending the local community college and took several photography classes using black and white only. It was fun learning how to develop film and process the negatives in the enlargers. I loved experimenting with the different techniques we would learn in class.
I then proceeded to color. Wow what a difference in processing the film then there was in black and white. More precise on the times and temperatures of the chemicals, not being able to have any light instead of the red light you could use with black and white.
I was pleased when digital photography came along. I decided to purchase my first digital camera in 2000. It was a small Olympus with only 3.2 megipixels. The reaction time was slow, and most of the time I found my subject had moved from the shot I was trying to take. I decided to go to a digital SLR back in 2002, I purchased a Canon 20D and loved the speed and ease in shooting with it. Most of my portfolio was taken with this same camera. Feel free to look through my pictures and I hope you enjoy what I see with my camera.
