We were a small group of close friends at the Art College- a lecturer Ed Meyer, a wonderful man, now passed away sadly, Steve an Art History student, Ann the model of the artists and myself and occasionally others. As I had young children, my home was the general meeting place though I visited Ed in Lincoln and was shown the beauties of the city there- My friends realised that my boys had no male guide and spent a lot of time playing chess with them - for which I am eternally grateful, as having the role of mum and dad, and student, I had little time left for play- but I endeavoured to keep their environment as stable as possible..My friends replaced their older brother and sister who had gone to University on a pittance as their father neither paid them nor us -
