I lived in Upton Park, so often used the U/g especially when studying at the Institute of Education (see my books in their library) and also MA at German Inst. - ofcourse I sketched many people I saw and wrote a great deal of my poetry on the underground, as I was working p/t at the same time and also teaching voluntarily at the African Refugee Centre..helping African student refugees to find their feet. I adored going into the city by bus- two hour journey, with good views of London, tho' a city toff for the lab showed himself on one bus journey: I rolled a thousand out of your a/c. They starve you to death here after they no longer need you in heavy industry, of honestly earned money- then use you for illegal experiments not permitted world wide. the rolling is a constant trick of theirs now.
