I just had to add this one, mum and I are wearing matching pinafores- mum had walked West in the worst winter of Europe- the Bavarians, flooded with people from the East, had each farmer take in two refugee families. The Farmer was the old lady and her four daughters, one of them somewhat retarded/ there were few men in Germany at this time.
