Imagine living and working here in the Independence Goldmine high above the treeline in the Talkeetna Mountains, 206 workers and 16 familes recovered 140,000 ounces of gold during its operation until its close in the wake of World War II. I have posted a close up of some of these buildings as well as individual buildings that still stand there today. It was extremely cold when I shot this, I wanted to give perspective as to how this is situated on the mountain and allowed more of the surroundingsin view here.
