People at work Contest Entry
It never ceased to amaze me, just how much these little bikes and carts could carry and indeed how they kept their bikes steady! I was a good cyclist in my far distant youth, but I doubt I could have carried such amounts. On Saturdays, I usually walked through the fields from Mapo where our College was, to nearby Shunyi market. I have photos of the field workers, but they were generally women, and the title was 'men' at work. I did not once see a woman on one of these cycles. I did check on my photos. That white paint at the bottom of the trees really works. I used to teach in Beijing and often came home in the dark and was amazed how luminous that white paint on the bottom of the tree trunks is.
