this was prompted by something which quite worried me. A girl student at the art college told me that her landlady had made advances to her and she didn't know what to do about it. She couldn't tell her lecturer as he was male. I am a traditionalist and do not put up with nonsense, but she was young and though today I am 74 and know exactly how to shove people off, when I was young, you went along with things just because you had been taught not to offend people, so you hoped you could slide out of the problem later. I learnt in later years, at a women's assertive class:- make your goalposts clear and state them. My ex was furious that I had gone there for guidance, and he wanted to know what they wanted with me. I personally feel these classes should be given to all senior girls as they answer those things that young ladies in our over liberal days find hard to deal with.
