Mountains Contest Entry
I suddenly had a terrible urge to go to India, so bought a ticket for the next week. Delhi was hot, and two doctors who were living in America, but came from Nanital, had told me on the plane, when it gets too hot about July time: catch a bus up to the mountains and come to Nanital, and so I did. I had a wonderful time there and quickly made some very good friends. I was very sad to leave as I was already plotting how I could live there and where, but I had promised my pupils down in Delhi at Ashoke Road Convent school I would be back and also I needed to see our extended family, Mrs Sonja Ghandi. Mountainous terrain meant there were many porters who took huge parcels up incredibly steep mountain-sides, which I found hard work even without huge full boxes on my back.
