In Flight - Photography (a) Contest Entry
I have flown since 64 years or more, /when I came to England/ and it never occurred to me that you could take pictures out of the window, till one of my European flights, they announced a competition for photos. I didn't enter the competition but took the photos! and love to look at them. Now I have mobile ready when ever I fly. Do not ask me why I didn't, I have such memories in my mind, flying over the whole of Siberia from Beijing is one, I was so excited I told the air hostess, she must have thought I was daft, I paid extra on purpose to do that stretch and if I had more years would love to go by train, Beijing to Moscow. That amazing view as you come into China of those green- stepped, paddy fields, the yellow sands of Arabia and Afghanistan, oh and Australia, with singular buildings and odd trees scattered here and there, the green and blue shores of Scandanavia. The heavy snows of northern America and Canada during a winter flight. It is not the speed which induces me to fly, as I loved going over to the Continent by ferry, /I hate the chunnel, absolutely loathe going down it/ What grabs me are the amazing /geographical/ views the aeroplane offers, I am pleased I did not choose comfort after my ex of quarter of a century dumped us. I am poor as a church mouse however no safe jobs or household has left that kind of impression in my mind's eye as my travels have.
