Somewhere In the Ossipee Mtns

A Short Cascade

A little known stream and pool was our destination this day. Why? Because my two companions wanted Brookies' for lunch and I wanted a chance to shoot this cascade. This pool is 3 ft/1 m at the deep spot, average depth about 18"/.5 m. What the pool lacks in depth is made up in area. In fact enough area to perhaps support a very large and healthy Brook Trout population. I didn't want to diminish the impact of the cascade by including the entire pool. So I taped a tall kitchen trash bag to each tripod leg and waded in. No water current to speak of so no need for a center line ballast. While I was happily clicking away my companions were catching lunch. Or so I had hoped. Either the fish weren't biting or this pool had been fished out. Well better luck next time, and that's why I carry a can of SPAM... Bob
