Oh yes..from the classic novel later movie "Cat on a hot tin roof" to "Oh Brother where art thou?"..this is a scene A.I. creation scene of what our Bayous look like in the flatland Mississippi Delta..My home town is called Leland. The town now proudly display a mounted plaque on the main drag about one our famous citizens..Jim Henson. The town is the birthplace of Kermit the Frog. Jim's classmate in school Kermit Scott was named after that famous frog. When Jim Henson first announced on T.V. how he got the idea of the character from his school days in Leland, some of us started looking around town to see who looked like a frog. lol..not realizing he was referring to his classmate's demeanor. Here is what i find funny.... he never did say where he got the idea for the Ms. Piggy character but trust me in my town we had a lot a candidates. wink. We also have chart toppers like Motown singer Dorothy Moore and rocker Joe Frank Carolla (Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Reynolds) is from Leland.. Then go 15 miles west on Highway 82 you come to Indianola home of B.B. King...or go 15 miles north on Freedom Highway 61 and come to Shaw home of football legend Archie Manning..or go 2 more miles north on the highway and come to Mound Bayou, birthplace and home of Country Singer Charlie Pride...or got south on Highway 61 and come to a town called Belzonia home of Mac McAnally (songwriter for Jimmie Buffet) or go about 50 south down to Yazoo City and come to the original place where Opray Winfrey is from before moving to Chicago. there is so much more and i think i made the point on the richness of culture. The one thing you cannot see is the humidity and heat that it gets there. i live in Florida now and it is less humid and much cooler in the summer than in the Mississippi Delta. Anyone who has spent anytime in the Delta can tell ya the same thing. See in Florida really isn't really considered to be a southern state because majority of the population are from the New England and Midwest area getting away from the snow. it can be 80 degrees and they would be holler "It's Hot!"...i laugh and laugh because they have no clue what it is like at the end of May when it hits 100 and a heat index of a 100 degrees plus and the bayous start to smell and guess what? not one bit of a breeze..when i came to Florida and felt the constant breeze i knew i was at my new home! not to hot..not to cold..just right! wink
