Reviewing Photos
I do wish some people would really look at photos etc when reviewing on here,it seems people give fives and even sixes on ordinary photos no mater if they are good or not,it really does not help people improve.

RE: Reviewing Photos
🌿 Brian, this also goes on in the art arena too. The area how created many times are not stated. What programs used. Just the basic way created and NOT the artists technique. 10 years ago when I joined I knew ZERO about photography. Those wonderful artists who DID state HOW created enabled me to learn and understand. It also allows the reviewer to have an idea of the artist's creative basics and this enables one to review properly. I really wish 🫠FAR would require this again. Not filled out you were disqualified. 💃🏼

RE: Reviewing Photos
Hi Cindy my beef is some people[not all] review to get points etc but don,t really look and study a piece of work,i don,t review everything on here again unike some, those i do art/photography i wiil study and review with honesty[not always am i right] my beef is people use similiar sentances, give five say its sharp etc when its clearly not,so not really a honest review and again that does not help an artist improve and will make the same mistakes

RE: Reviewing Photos
I will sometimes use same lines in reviewing to save on time but I ALWAYS look at the image and if it's poorly taken I skip it and or mention if it's not sharp. I do not have the time or patience for people who do not know how to handle constructive criticism and get defensive when you point things out. Happened a few times on this site already.
Secondly, I state the programs I use with my digital art because if I wrote down step by step it be a five page letter. LOL There is ALOT of work that goes into my art. It's not a paste and go. 90 percent of FAR have no idea how true digital art is created and it is time I do not have to write everything out that people aren't going to understand anyway. If people want to know how Blender and DAZ work, there are plenty of you-tube videos out there that explain it in depth. To give you a idea, the art council in the city I live has a art fair coming up. I submitted my art so I could get a booth. The art council notified me back and wanted more information because they never had a Digital Artist submit before. I am the only one out of 200 area artists. That was a art council, people familiar with the art world.
There are wonderful artists on this site, there are some really cool digital pieces but there is also very mediocre art that, you are right, should not be given high reviews.
I've also noticed people trying to pass AI off as traditional work and being allowed to when it is so obviously AI.
As another member mentioned to me that they stopped caring about the standings and I shouldn't worry about it, I can see why.
I do true digital art, where as others use AI. People can push out AI faster than I can create my art so I will never be able to keep up with that. Without moderation people learn how to work the platform to suit their own agenda.
As far as posting the same review for everyone, why can't FAR state you already wrote that like they do when you use the same title for your work.
Lastly, my techniques are my techniques. I create my own style art and like a chef protecting their recipes I am not going to give up all my secrets to the masses.
RE: Reviewing Photos
Brian, the majority of members on this site who review subjectively knowingly do so.
Why?
Because they don't want to offend the photographer/artist and risk his/her ire from a review that will be taken as an afront to their artistic capabilities.
Conversely, there are those who simply know what they like and when a post matches what they like they respond positively.
It's for these reasons that any review and rating system based on a sliding value scale will within six months of implementation deteriorate to nearly everyone getting 5's and 6's - it's just human nature.
This "issue" with review/rating has been going on ad nauseum so, stop whining, cheer up and keep on reviewing and rating just as you always have because that's what we all expect.

RE: Reviewing Photos
Was not whining just making a point which think is a waste of time on here because the very people i refer to don,t use the forum anyway, and yes will still review as i think and try to be fair...
p.s. have you blocked me
